February 9, 2005 journal, a nice day with Carol Crown lecturing at the Frist Museum in Nashville. Coinciding with the American Anthem show until May first from the American Folk Art Museum in New York. Dr. Crown spoke on the end of world art and showed art from a variety of artist that paint Apocalypse scenes from the images of Nebuchadnezzar's dream to the rapture and world destruction. She showed much of my work of the whole, being involved in a study of it for 7 years leading up to the Coming Home show offering a variety of artist work from the South. She seem to capture every painting of the end times, including art shown by John Haggi. She showed my tree of life and 300 foot Revelation Revealed that starts with the great image from prophecy, ‘Old Testament’ Book of Daniel. “The American Anthem Show has 130 masterworks. This exhibition is a "Song of Praise" to the nation offering insight into our American history and culture celebrating the spirit of independence and ingenuity that has marked American folk art from colonial days to the present. Within the chronological framework, thematic groupings allow an examination of artist diverse responses to cultural priorities and influences in politics including patriotism and religion and community. A variety of media are offered in this exhibition. Including beautiful well crafted functional objects, textiles, art and sculpture. Highlights include folk paintings by Grandma Moses, Horace Pippin and Ralph Fasanello, as well as Southern artists Howard Finster, Bill Traylor and Bessie Harvey”. My work is not in the American folk Art show exhibition. I am however an outsider artist painting visionary Christian Art.

The Frist Center Museum of Art is relatively new and is certainly a full blown Museum.

The name Frist is common in Nashville and I assume U.S. Senator William H. Frist and MD, is from this same family name. I purchased a book, a biography-the life of Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist ‘and issues that shape our times’ by Charles Martin. The book introduction-“In the months leading up to January 20, 2001, the winds of “compassionate conservatism” swept across the country bringing in a Republican president, a Republican majority in both the House and the Senate. 5 months later-May 24, 2001-after reaching a late night deal with Senator Tom Daschle w/other top Democrats, Republican Jim Jefford left the Republican Party to declare himself independent and caucus with the Democrats. The ripple effects were many-not the least of which occurred when Trent Lott passed the gavel to Tom Daschle, the South Dakota senator representing 530,000 voters and work in the House and Senate came to a screeching halt. For 18 months the Democratic controlled Senate, operating out of a one-vote majority, made every attempt to stall the Bush led Republican agenda! In the few times when the Democrats were unable to block the Republican initiative, Daschle spoke with disdain and frequently of the “partisan politics" that had come to dominate life in Washington D.C. In contrast, Daschle himself became known as a wolfish partisan “whose strong opinions were only partially disguised by a lamb’s demeanor". Having lost the majority and control following Jim’s decision, some might say defection, the president looked ahead to the November 2002 elections. Then a strategic move to win back both, he asked a relatively unknown first term senator from Tennessee, Bill Frist, the son of a local country doctor and a gifted surgeon himself, to lead the GOP's Senate campaign committee, whose job it was, and is, to elect Republicans to office. Frist went to work… November 2002, he quietly succeeded, and a shocked Daschle handed the gavel back to Trent Lott. Senator Lott promised the president and the American people that he would immediately get to work on the Republican agenda. Then came the 100th birthday party for Senator Strom Thurmond”. Lott’s praise for Thurmond lost his job.
